day 3. reverb10

Pick one moment during which you felt most alive this year. Describe it in vivid detail (texture, smells, voices, noises, colors). (Author: Ali Edwards)

One moment I felt alive this year was when I took an epic post-office-bicycle-tour in Virginia (I have massive love for both post offices, and my bicycle).  I overcame the natural desire to can the whole idea when my friend backed out, a hurricane was predicted and it started to rain…but I had a critical letter that needed to be mailed.  Mailed from the moon, or as close as I could get (Moon, Virginia) in yet another attempt to heal.  Heal my broken heart, and return the moon to me, for it was hijacked two years ago when this love went away.

So I rode off in the rain and I mailed the letter. The sun came out. The tears felt farther away as I felt the wind on my face, a release in my soul.  I met a local carpenter. I saw a lighthouse. I bought chips and a snickers for my hungry belly.  I raced through the country roads greeting the most adorable post offices.  And when the hurricane got closer, I quietly rode the triumphant last few miles fearless of the falling rain.
